This week, we get deep and technical into what it takes and means to have ‘high performing shoulders’ because we had the awesome pleasure of having one of the leading shoulder experts in the world, Eric Cressey, join us on the podcast!
Eric Cressey, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (in the US), received his Master’s Degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science through the University of Connecticut Department of Kinesiology, the #1 ranked kinesiology graduate program in the United States.
Eric is perhaps best known for his extensive work with baseball players, with more than 100 professional players traveling to train with him each off-season. Baseball presents some unique challenges for the shoulder in relation to the speed of rotation in a pitch. In the podcast, Eric talks about it being the fastest movement in sport! So the demand placed on the shoulder is significant. Because of his expertise in this area and the wider physical preparation of athletes, Eric is highly respected in the Strength & Conditioning world.
We were so excited to pick his brains about shoulder performance and how what he’s learned about athletes shoulders in such a high demanding sport can relate to the demand we place on our shoulders through calisthenics.
We hope you enjoy this one as much as we did.
